Flick City 42: Director Xavier Gens On Shooting ‘Gangs of London’ And Power of Genre Filmmaking

Here is my interview with Gangs of London director Xavier Gens (he directed episodes 6-8 of the first season). The series is co-created by Gareth Evans, the filmmaker behind The Raid: Redemption and Apostle.

During the interview, Gens talked about his directing approach to Gangs of London and collaborating with Evans on the series. Plus, he looks back on his own career (which includes the films Frontier(s), The Divide, and Cold Skin). Genre filmmaking is a big passion for Gens, as he cites The Thing (John Carpenter), Robocop (Paul Verhoeven), and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Tobe Hooper) as movies that have heavily influenced him.

GANGS OF LONDON Season 1 is currently available on Blu-ray and DVD.

Week 15: Green Room, The Jungle Book & The Invitation

Big week here on CinemAddicts. Greg and Anderson have two strong movies to talk about with the much anticipated Green Room and the new Disney instant classic, The Jungle Book. The Invitation and The Adderall Diaries are also discussed as well as the ultra low budget Coherence and Point Break. No, not the Keanu Point Break, but rather the new one which causes Anderson to think something might be wrong with Greg.
